The First DotA 2 Tournament Will Be Held in GamesCom

Couple days ago, we got a tips that a member of GosuGamers that he overheard MYM players talked about a trip to Germany with other Asians teams. Since there are no other off-line tournament announced at Germany and given the fact that Valve will attend the GamesCom, he concluded that those professional teams are invited by Valve for a the promotional tournament of DotA 2.
Furthermore, he also compiled from difference source that 8 European team and 6 Asian teams get the Beta Keys for DotA 2 and travel expenses to Germany. The battle itself will be held at 17-21 August in Cologne. The prize pool is yet to be known.
However, his post alone was still not convincing enough since he doesn”t have any proof because so many censorship from GosuGamers crew. But luckily, yesterday in , LGD revealed that they invited to that tournament.

Sometime in August, there will be a game conference (Gamescom) in Germany where there will be a DotA 2 exhibition. Currently, a couple of Chinese teams have received an invitation to participate in a showmatch. Has your team received anything yet?
ZSMJ: Yes we have, but we are settling our visa issues at the moment, and it”s becoming quite troublesome.I guess that means that LGD might not be attending Gamescom.
ZSMJ: It will depend on our visas and how our interview with the German immigration authorities go, so we will see.Have you played or tried DotA 2 yet?
ZSMJ: No, DotA 2 is an entirely new game.
From all the source above, we can conclude several things:
- There will be a
DotA 2 promotional tournament in GamesCom, Germany
- The professional teams invited in that tournament haven”t played DotA 2 yet (at least until now)
- There will be Beta Keys for DotA 2
Wow! I”m getting excited. Let”s hope that we”ll also get the chance to go to the Germany and watch those tournament with our own eyes!

I read about this on other pages too (just as a rumor though), and I wish there is a live stream of the tournament, because it’s held exactly on my birthday lolol
Yeah, it started as rumor, but upon hearing LGD interview, i think it pretty much confirm the rumor. And yeah, it would be great if we can watch the live stream
